The tour itself was well done by the guide, although almost all the information given, can be read on signs along the trail. The trail itself is very accessible and feels totally secure. Park authorities are everywhere and remind you to keep going. However, we lost almost 45 minutes waiting for the public bus to get from the meeting point at the hotel to the trail’s entrance. Here I would have expected a private shuttle that leaves on time We would have planed our day different, if we would have known it advance. The tour starts at the La Garganta hotel but don’t expect to be able to use their parking space, even as a guest in their restaurant, as the parking lots are for hotel guests only. Instead use the parking space close to the lake at entrance of the village. It is clear that the number of visitors must be limited and there is no proof, but it seems like companies are buying all available tickets in advance and resell it to private visitors at double the price. Nobody likes this, but it is the only way to get a ticket for ordinary people that do not plan a hike more than 4 weeks in advance and hopefully brings at least some money into the region. The trail is worth visiting but don’t expect to gain big insights with this guided tour.
